Kayaking in the ancient Rome
Duration: 3 hours
The tour begins with a lesson on the technique of paddling on the ground in the company of our kayak instructor guides. During the paddling, the participants will be immersed in the deepest peace of the lake, enriched by unique flora and fauna, a few steps from Rome.
The guide will tell you the history of the lake of Castel Gandolfo and will show you some of the historical sites that line the banks, such as the submerged stilts of the Villaggio dei Mulini, the ports of the Roman villas and, in particular, the villa of the Emperor Domitian, where the Romans loved to observe the spectacle of naval battles, the houses of some hermits and the Popes’ diving board, where the ancient popes loved to dive down from their summer residence located in the village above the lake.
In the hottest periods, from March to the end of October there will also be a relaxing break on a beach that can only be reached by kayak and where you can swim in the pristine waters of the lake. Throughout the tour, the instructors will give continuous lessons on the paddle technique, and at the end of the experience, you will have greatly refined your kayaking technique!
