Ancient Roman Cooking
Duration: 5 hours
Place: Private Home of a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef
Sample the food the Ancient Romans used to eat with what was available at the time. Using the real recipes from the time, based on Apicius’s ‘De Re Coquinaria’, the first ever cookery book, you will be preparing a 4-course meal with unusual yet delicious combinations which were common at the time. You will use spices and herbs which have now almost disappeared from traditional Italian cuisine, and replicate exactly what Julius Caesar used to eat! Recipes such as roasted duck with hazelnuts and honey, spiced lentils with coriander, Ricotta and honey tart baked on bay leaf will give you a glance into what a Roman banquet used to be like.
